She taught Bible School, Sunday School, and served on the Lyon County Dairy Board. Jean was a member of the Bethany Reformed Church of Canton, South Dakota. Jean was full of love, laughter, and adventure. Dave introduced her to many firsts, like, shooting her first deer, shooting a Canadian goose, fishing for walleye, and trapping raccoons. Jean always said they were two peas in a pod. In January 2011, Jean met Dave Wallenburg who she loved with all her heart. She always said if she didn’t have “bleacher butt” then nobody did. Jean loved watching her two sons and her grandsons wrestle. If it was by herself or with her grandchildren, Dax or Jesse, she loved to sit by the campfires or go to the beach. Jean bought her own Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode it many times in the Black Hills at the Sturgis Rally. At 9 years old she got her first pony and was still riding horse until her health prevented her from doing so. Jean loved summer and everything that went with it. They were blessed with 4 children Stacy, Jodi, Curtis and Scott. While married to Alan, Jean helped with the running of the farm, milking cows, doing the chores and fieldwork. ![]() Jean married Alan Eben in 1974 and they later divorced in 2005. She finished her senior year attending and graduating from Ellsworth High School. At 4 years old Jean started school at Magnolia until her junior year when her parents moved back to a farm east of Ellsworth. ![]() When Jean was 3 years old the family moved to a farm north of Magnolia, Minnesota. ![]() She was born in Sibley, Iowa and brought home to the family farm near Ellsworth, Minnesota. Jean Marie (Hassebroek) Wallenburg was born September 24, 1955, to Jake and Anna Mae (Muller) Hassebroek. Porter Funeral Home of Inwood is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be given to Lake Pahoja Recreation Area along with a memorial bench and Ava’s House. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 PM at the church. Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 23, at 4:30 PM at Bethany Reformed Church in Canton, South Dakota with Pastor Jason Wiersma officiating. Inwood, IA: Jean Marie Wallenburg, 66, of Inwood, Iowa, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
